healing trauma

“The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create.”
- Leonard Sweet

If the future is something we create, which I agree with Sweet, then episodes in our past can influence what our future will look like.

For many, the trauma experienced in the past prevents them from creating the future they want and deserve because the trauma shows up in their thoughts, beliefs, and self-talk. This trauma takes over the creation process, and the future ends up looking much like the present and past.

Healing your trauma, and trauma ranges and is relative—what is a trauma for me may not be a trauma for you and vice versa, but it is an important part of the Pursuit if you are serious about bringing your authentic life to your future.

In today’s episode of LifeDesign+, I’m joined by Matt Gerlach, who has navigated the healing of trauma to step into his authentic life; this includes helping others navigate the trauma that is holding them back from a happier, more meaningful life.

Matt is very open in this episode, and in the content he creates, he talks about the struggles from his past, how he worked to let them go, and how he continues to make sure those past events don’t creep back into his life.

I hope you enjoy this episode and find the confidence to look within to identify what from your past MIGHT be holding you back from living your authentic life.

As you get more clear on what your authentic life looks like and begin to realign your behaviors and habits with your authentic life, you might find your Self easily falling back into the old ways you are trying to move on from. I don’t know this to be factual, but I think that’s normal and does not mean you won’t reach your authentic life—assuming you recognize you’re back to your old ways and refocus your attention on the new. The important part is to recognize that you’ve reverted to the...

When was the last time you took a moment to look at just how far you’ve come? In the moment, it’s hard to see the progress you’ve made because you’re so focused on what is going on and what you want to see happen in the future. It’s easy to feel as if you are merely treading water and not making any progress. That is until you actually take some time to look back at all that has transpired over the timeframe–and it doesn’t matter what timeframe you choose. It’s important to acknowledge your...
